Waiting for the news [TTRPG bluebooking]

Orion thought that the ultimate test of his skill was the negotiations. He used the power of words to keep people alive. He suffered injuries to show that he is not afraid and he has it in him to stand his ground. His sharp mind became so sharp it could pierce.

However, the true skill test awaited him today. He has to be involved with his patients. He has to listen, to process the information, to give advice, or to ask some additional questions. But it was so difficult to concentrate. Minz wasn't writing anything, and Orion became more and more concerned with each passing hour.

And what a torture it was to see a notification on the screen of his agent and not be able to see it immediately, because he was in the middle of the session. Yet he endured. The session went exceptionally well, and the patient had a major breakthrough. Orion admitted that he mainly improvised, and he could put in a lot of new words thanks to his own overwhelming feelings. The patient said that it was incredibly heartfelt, enlightening even. Maybe that's what Phil meant by saying that love brings happiness, misery, and clarity.

As soon as Orion said his last goodbyes to the final patient of the day, he rushed to his agent. His hands were shaking, and his heart was beating so fast that it felt like it could easily stop from overexertion. And the relief felt so much more intense.

Minz was fine. He said he had to finish some business, so he probably won't get back to Orion until tomorrow, but he was fine. His mission concluded with no injuries and no complications. There are a few new enemies, but honestly, is that really surprising? Besides, badlands nomads are universally hated. Not to mention these infamous cannibals.

The "talk to you later" was rather telling, though. Minz was onto something. Something of great importance. And even though Orion called himself an atheist, he prayed to every single power of this universe to be right about his assumptions.
